Marin County Fair paid tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the first moon landing in 1969 with this year's theme: Over the Moon! Along with many moon-inspired attractions including an art exhibit, a special space exhibit by the Novato Space Station Museum, 21st century learning was showcased by the South Novato Library along with Marinovation Center including Marin Makerspace Media Studio, and XR Marin. MakerSpace Media Studio offered inquiry-based making with an LED light-up paper rocket hands-on project. Showcased in a futurist-inspired exhibit, XR Marin offered extended reality experiences and space-inspired virtual reality experiences curated by XR Libraries. Both XR Libraries and XR Marin joined forces to capture on video via drone footage a world record attempt for the moonwalk by fair attendees. Crowds were wowed with the Apollo 11 virtual reality experience and also by launching farm animals to the moon via augmented reality in a diorama exhibit created by college interns and high school students from XR Marin.
